Korčula Old Town
A town written in stone.
KORČULA, DALMATIA · CROATIA
Stone lanes. Salt on your skin. A table worth staying for. Discover the Dalmatian island that rewards a little more time.
THE ART OF STAYING A LITTLE LONGER
A bell above the rooftops. A lane that opens, unexpectedly, to the sea. The quiet pleasure of choosing one small bay over a long list of things to do. Korčula makes room for a different kind of journey.
Begin with the walled town, then let the island unfold: Lumbarda’s vineyards, the villages of the interior and the harbour life of Vela Luka. This is a guide to making that time count — without filling every hour.
FIND YOUR KORČULA
Choose a place to begin. Leave a little space for what you find along the way.
A town written in stone.
Where the vineyards meet the sea.
Find your shade of blue.
Another rhythm, to the west.
THE LONG WAY TO LUNCH
Grk in Lumbarda. Pošip around Čara and Smokvica. Hand-shaped makaruni with roots in Žrnovo. The island’s food and wine make more sense when you follow them back to a place.

NOTES FROM THE ISLAND
The practical choices and quieter places that turn a beautiful destination into your own journey.
The island’s villages
Away from the harbour fronts, another Korčula comes into focus: village squares, working vineyards and the small rituals of everyday life.

Itineraries are editorial suggestions, not bookable packages. Adapt them to your arrival port, the weather and current opening times.
Our suggestion is three nights for the town and Lumbarda, with five to seven nights for a broader island visit. These are planning choices, not fixed requirements; ferry timing can change the shape of a short stay.
Not necessarily for a stay focused on Korčula Town. A car or pre-arranged transport makes the interior, southern coves and western island easier to combine. Check current local buses before choosing a car-free base.
Korčula Town, Dominče and Vela Luka are different arrival points. The Orebić car ferry uses Dominče; the Split car-ferry route serves Vela Luka. Read the exact port on your ticket before booking a transfer.
The historic town is on Croatia’s UNESCO Tentative List. That is not the same as inscription on the World Heritage List. Our heritage guide keeps that distinction explicit.
